BeanSprout ("we," "our," or "us") is a garden planning and seed-tracking application. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. You may optionally provide a display name or farm name for a personalized experience.

Garden Data

We store the gardening information you enter, including your seed catalog, planting schedules, grow logs, journal entries, harvest records, photos, growing seasons, locations, and vendor information. This data is yours — we only store it to provide the service to you.

Location Information

If you choose to enter your zip code for weather features, we store that zip code along with the corresponding latitude, longitude, and USDA planting zone. This information is used solely to display local weather and planting zone data on your dashboard. We do not track your real-time location.

Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details on our servers. Stripe handles all payment processing, and we only receive a Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your account. For more information, see Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Photos

Photos you upload are stored securely and are only accessible to you. Photos are associated with your garden tasks and are not shared publicly.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the BeanSprout service
• To personalize your experience (e.g., displaying your name, weather data)
• To process your subscription and manage billing
• To send important service-related communications (e.g., account verification, billing notices)
• To improve and develop new features

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not serve advertisements.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate BeanSprout:

• Supabase — Database hosting, authentication, and file storage. Your data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure with row-level security enabled.
• Stripe — Payment processing for subscriptions.
• Vercel — Application hosting and deployment.
• Zippopotam.us — Zip code geocoding (only if you provide a zip code for weather features).

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing the data they process on our behalf.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Database access is protected by row-level security policies, ensuring you can only access your own data. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with industry-standard practices.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can export your data at any time using the Import/Export feature in your dashboard. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at the email below and we will process your request promptly.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to manage your authentication session. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party advertising cookies.

Children's Privacy

BeanSprout is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Export your data at any time via the dashboard
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Cancel your subscription at any time

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or through a notice on the service. Your continued use of BeanSprout after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
